Here's a Reset Procedure ... The problem was if error occured the unit would halt further activity so printing was suspended ... the particular error was the photo ink tank was empty and it took awhile to select everything so I could print with Black only ... photo ink error needed clearing ...

The waste-ink counter for the BJ F900, F890, F700, F500, S900, S820, S750 and S520 are all reset in the same manner :
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Press and hold the RESUME button, then press and hold the POWER button.
3. Release the RESUME button, then press and release the RESUME button two more times in succession. (youre still holding the POWER button during this). The printer mechanics will move momentarily.
4. You are now in Service mode.
5. Pressing the RESUME key will select a function; for example, pressing RESUME 4 times will select the clear waste ink counter function. The lamp will alternate color with each key press.
1 : Service/factory test printout, including ink sensor check
2 : EEPROM info printout
3 : EEPROM initialization
4 : Clear the waste-ink counter
5 : Printer model setting. (more selections beyond this- leave this alone)
After selecting mode, press the POWER button to commit the change, and return to the top of the function selection menu. Pressing the POWER button again turns off the printer for a restart.
If you have a defective printer head, your power lamp may flash during the service mode key-in, and info printouts may not work. In this case, clearing the waste-ink counter may not fix your problem.

I found this fix by Tman on another thread and it has worked for my IP2000
Canon S9000, S300, S400, i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950, PIXMA iP3000 above,
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Wem, Try soaking the print head in a shallow dish/plate of hot distilled water to remove any dried out ink. You may need to repeat the process a few times to fully unclog the print head.

I am currently in the process of cleaning the Waste Ink Tank

This methods is for almost all kind Canon printer.
My method is :
1. Unassemble the Printer , Has locking Tabs & 1 Screw.
2. Remove the Mechanism.
3. Remove the Power supply & the connector
4. Place the Base in a sink & remove the Pads
5. Wash the Base in Running Water .then Dry thoroughly.
6. Sqeeze wash the 2 pads in running warm water.until no Ink runs out.
7. Sqeeze dry all the excess water from the Pads & leave to Dry overnite.
8. Reassemble the printer & Run through the Reset as in Wes's Post.

Analisys Troubleshoot for Canon BJC3000

THE ERROR CODE INDICATED IS NOT THE WASTE INK TANK!!!!!

The waste ink tank error message is indicated by 6 ALTERNATE flashes of Green/Orange. ie green, orange, green, orange, green, orange, green, orange, green, orange, green, orange.
The error message described in the original post is a printhead problem. It was described as flashing 6 orange and one green. ie green, orange, orange, orange, orange, orange, orange The BC-33e printheads are consumables and need to be replaced after a few years.
The waste ink amount is based on dot counting. It will indicate that it is full after a certain amount of printing has been done. This is generally after 10's of thousands of pages have been through the printer and as such is only rarely triggered by your average user. I would say that most people that supposedly have this "waste ink tank full" error, just need to replace the printhead, and have been resetting the eeprom needlessly. This would explain why a lot of people still have no joy even after reseting the eeprom.
It is shame that one persons inaccurate and inflammatory post has steered so many people in the wrong direction. And you wonder why the engineers don't want that info in the public domain.
BJC-3000 error codes are as follows:
[User Recoverable]
The indicator blinks in orange the number of times for that type of error, then it blinks in green. This pattern is repeated.
Error Indicator Blinks :
- 2 Paper feed error
- 3 Paper jam error
- 4 Ink out error
- 5 Mis-installed cartridge
- 6 No cartridge
- 7 Cartridge error
- 8 Waste ink warning
The indicator blinks alterately in orange and in green the the number of times for that error (orange and green blinking alternately), then it blinks long in green. This pattern is repeated.

- ROM error 1 time in orange/green RAM error 2 times in orange/green
- EEPROM error 3 times in orange/green Home position error 4 times in orange/green
- Temperature sensor error 5 times in orange/green

- Cartridge displaced error 9 times in orange/green
- ASF sensor error 10 times in orange/green

BJC-3000 :
Here is the reset process. You need to carefully follow the steps for it to work. Not to defend Canon but without the waste ink counter you will at some point end up with ink leaking from the printer.
Waste Error Reset :
Step 1: Start with POWER OFF. Hold down the RESUME button. Press and hold the POWER button. The indicator should light GREEN unblinking.
Step 2: Without releasing the POWER button, release RESUME, then double-click (press and release twice) RESUME. Finally release POWER. Each click of RESUME should cause the indicator to change (first to ORANGE, then back to GREEN). If the reset is going to work, upon release of the POWER button, the GREEN will blink while the printer goes through its irritating noisy start-up routine of making all the moving parts whirr and grumble (though not, I insist, beep!) and then settle down to unblinking green (I have never achieved this happy status).
Step 3: Press the resume button either three times (according to Wes) or six times (according to Mark's Pidgin it would take 3 double-clicks to get 3 orange lights - hey, I'm just a mathematician trying to make sense of it all!)
Step 4: Press POWER OFF to set data. Apparently this both stores the reset and powers off the printer. When you power on again all should be well!

Epson Stylus Color C20,C40

Since your printer consumes ink not only for printing but also for other operations like cleaning, a certain amount of ink is wasted and it is collected by the waste ink pad. Therefore, the printer counts the amount of waste ink.
Once the amount of waste ink reaches the predefined limit, the printer indicates "MAINTENANCE REQUEST" and the waste ink pad should be replaced. Also, you must reset the maintenance error condition and the waste ink counter value stored in EEPROM on the mainbord of the printer.

The adjustment program enables you to perform maintenance and adjustment functions such as:

- Initial Ink Charge
- Head ID Setting
- Top margin Adjustment
- Bi-D Adjustment
